Industrial Accelerator Act: EHPA’s position

Heat pumps are key for the decarbonisation of heating, cooling and domestic hot water, as well as for achieving the European Union’s climate, energy and competitiveness objectives.

The sector has already made significant investments in European manufacturing capacity and is well positioned to further scale up production. Read our press release from April 2026: ‘Europe’s hydronic heat pumps are mainly made in Europe‘. 

EHPA supports the overall objective of adequately combining industrial policy with decarbonisation.

However, it is essential that the framework remains carefully balanced, ensuring that measures aimed at strengthening EU manufacturing do not inadvertently slow down the deployment of heat pumps across Europe, unnecessarily disrupt global supply chains or affect affordability for end-users.
