Affordability and competitiveness will be the focus of two sessions EHPA is organising with the European Commission at this year’s European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) – the European Union’s flagship event on renewables and energy efficiency taking place in Brussels from 9 to 11 June 2026.*
The discussions will feature representatives from EU institutions alongside researchers, energy providers, manufacturers and more.
On Wednesday, 10 June, EHPA hosts “Driving down costs: opportunities for competitive heat pump deployment”, focusing on how to make heat pumps more affordable and competitive across Europe.
In line with the Electrification Action Plan, Heating and Cooling Strategy, and Affordable Energy Action Plan, the session will explore energy pricing, taxation, and market conditions, as well as practical policy and industry solutions.
On Thursday, 11 June, “Made in Europe: technology-specific pathways to clean tech manufacturing” shifts the focus to the industrial dimension. As the EU advances the Clean Industrial Deal and the Industrial Accelerator Act, the session will examine how “Made in Europe” approaches can strengthen resilience and competitiveness while keeping deployment fast and affordable.
Particular attention will be given to demand-side measures – such as procurement, auctions, and subsidies – and their role in boosting investment and scaling up manufacturing.
Together, these sessions highlight EHPA’s commitment to a policy framework that supports both rapid heat pump deployment and a strong European industrial base.

In addition to these, EHPA Policy Director Jozefien Vanbecelaere will be speaking in the “Empowering and protecting vulnerable households on the path to decarbonisation” and “A new social contract: delivering a fast and fair decarbonisation for EU buildings” sessions later on 11 June.
Alongside the policy events, EHPA will also take part in the EUSEW Energy Fair, together with the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) in the Charlemagne Building (ground floor), stand 28.
