Technical insights in development of Thermal Energy Storage: from system integration to State of Charge estimation

10 December 2025
/ 10 December 2025
16:00-18:00

Join us for an in-depth technical webinar where 5 cutting-edge European research projects showcase their complementary contributions to advanced Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems and their integration into industrial, building and energy-system contexts. This event offers key insights into system integration, control & monitoring, state-of-charge (SoC) estimation and digitalisation of TES. The session also connects to broader EU research and innovation frameworks such as the CET Partnership (CleanEnergy Transition Partnership) under Horizon Europe. TES is emerging as a key enabler for the twin transition — both green (decarbonisation of heating/cooling & industrial heat) and digital (smart monitoring, SoC estimation, digital twins). The CET Partnership (Clean Energy Transition) under Horizon Europe supports such innovations by funding industry-academia consortia to deliver demonstrators and scalable solutions. This webinar links directly to that ecosystem, highlighting how TES technologies are moving from R&D to demonstration and integration in real systems.

Featured Projects

LoCoMoSa – Low-Cost Molten Salt TES for industrial heat supply (temp 120-450 °C) in the CET Partnership Joint Call 2022.
ISSDEMO – Demonstration of ultra-dynamic high-temperature TES (250-500 °C) for process steamin industry.
BESTStorage Building-scale short- and long-duration TES solutions with high energy density, integrating smart controls.
HYSTORE – Novel TES concepts combining PCM/TCM and open-source aggregator platforms for multi-service buildings.

Why Attend

Gain technical insights across a spectrum of TES technologies (molten salt, phase change materials, thermochemical storage) and applications (industrial heat, building integration, system flexibility).
Understand system integration challenges from design to demonstration (heat exchangers, charging/discharging, modelling, SoC estimation).
Explore digitalisation & monitoring: how advanced sensors, state-of-charge algorithms, predictive models and, data platforms enable smarter TES operation.
Learn about EU-level strategic frameworks: how the CET Partnership and Horizon Europe are driving TES innovation, supporting decarbonisation, flexibility and, industrial competitiveness.
