Heat pump solutions are essential for market-based flexibility. This will enable a faster build-up of variable, renewable generation assets, emission free heating and cooling and hence help to reach the green targets of the EU. Hence heat pumps must be included in the network code demand response. Harmonising the recognition of heat pump solution-based flexibility at an EU level is  key to achieve a smooth unfolding of flexibility in the Union and boosting the single EU market.
