Over 60% of the industry’s energy consumption goes on heating. Increasing the use of renewable energy sources through industrial heat is therefore key to reducing emissions.

These heat pumps serve a wide range of sectors, including food and drink, plastics, textiles, wood products, appliance and machinery manufacturing.

However, despite their short – and long-term benefits, there are several barriers to the widespread adoption of industrial heat pumps.

One major obstacle is upfront cost. It is critical that governments support the uptake of industrial heat pumps through subsidies. Yet such subsidies vary from country to country. In this report, we provide an overview of the subsidies available for industrial heat pumps in Europe.
