Today EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled her list of Commissioners and their portfolios.

Paul Kenny, Director General of the European Heat Pump Association said:
“Some said the Green Deal was dead – today’s appointments are proof that it’s very much alive, and this is great news for the heat pump sector. The Commissioners who, if confirmed by the European Parliament, will help deliver the Green Deal over the coming years – such as Spain’s Teresa Ribera – have been involved and supportive of it from the start. Indeed Commissioner Jorgensen and Commissioner Hoekstra both were alongside Commissioner Ribera pushing the decarbonisation of European energy and society.

“This EU Commission is likely to be even more robust than the last in terms of implementation of the Green Deal, with the combined experience in the overlapping portfolios as a likely key power block in the commission.  Key to their collective success, and several other Commissioners focused on trade, investment, security and competitiveness will be the ramping up the role of heat pumps powered by clean European electricity.”
