Majorities across five major EU countries support increased government financial support for heat pumps and believe that reducing dependence on fossil fuels would make the continent safer, a new Yougov poll shows.
The polling data, commissioned by E3G, Transport & Environment, and the Electrification Alliance shows that across the political divide, strong majorities across five major European countries support reducing fossil fuel dependence and clean energy investment, with backing for electrification and European cooperation consistent across most countries surveyed.
These results, which are based on polls of over 1000 citizens in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Poland are published over 100 days since the beginning of the Strait of Hormuz crisis.
Paul Kenny, Director General of the European Heat Pump Association said:
“Safety and security go beyond party politics, as these results show. Europeans realise that heat pumps and other electrification measures reduce our dependence on expensive and harmful fossil fuel imports from unreliable exporters. The EU and national governments would be wise to heed their citizens and speed up the transition.”
