From the latest compressor technologies to the most advanced large-scale heat pumps, the European Heat Pump Summit 2025 in Nuremberg brought together experts and industry leaders shaping the future of the heat pump sector.
The European Heat Pump Association’s contribution to the congress focused on one of the industry’s most crucial topics: trust.
In the session ‘Building trust in the heat pump market: the role of EU policies’ Saverio Papa, Head of Energy Policy, explored how European climate and energy policies are shaping the market.*
Drawing on EHPA market data, the presentation also highlighted a growing industry with more than 300 manufacturing sites and 433,000 jobs across Europe.
As the EU prepares two key plans that will focus on boosting electrification and heating and cooling for 2026, scaling up heat pumps will require stable policy frameworks and reliable quality assurance.
Reflecting on the event, EHPA Director Paul Kenny underlined the remarkable innovation on display – from smarter control systems and district heating solutions to industrial applications and even cleaner beer production.
Yet affordable electricity remains the key driver for the sector’s growth.
“Every industrialist I spoke to agreed – projects thrive when electricity costs no more than twice that of competing fossil fuels. That’s what will rocket the sector forward,” commented Kenny.
With technology advancing fast and trust at the heart of Europe’s policy and certification landscape, the heat pump industry is ready to drive the next chapter of the clean energy transition.
