Full steam ahead: waste heat-powered heat pump to produce steam

We know that large heat pumps can capture and use waste heat for process heat in manufacturing – a huge opportunity for industrial decarbonisation.

But now a new heat pump system will go even further – transforming waste heat into industrial-level ‘five bar’ steam – which is used in many processes from paper to food and chemicals.

This should both lower production costs due to high efficiency and replace combustion-based steam production.

The product is launched by Finnish company Calefa Oy and is called ‘AmbiSteam’.
