Decoupling electricity and gas prices, how to ensure everyone can invest in a heat pump, and the future carbon cost of buildings under the EU’s second Emissions Trading System.

These are just some of the hot topics discussed by the four MEPs and two energy analysts who made up the panel of the policy debate for EHPA’s members which followed our 2025 General Assembly today.

The importance of stable policies too for boosting heat pump take-up, which is crucial for boosting Europe’s energy security, was underlined by several speakers.

The speakers and panel were Ms. Annalisa Corrado, MEP S&D Italy; Mr. Michael Bloss, MEP Greens Germany; Ms. Nicolás González Casares, MEP S&D Spain ; Mr. Peter Liese, MEP EPP Germany, Mr. Samuel Butler Sloss, Manager – Ember Futures; Ms. Dr. Yara Van Ingen, Buildings Decarbonization Analyst – BloombergNEF. It was moderated by Jozefien Vanbecelaere, Policy Director at EHPA.
