10,000 certified heat pumps: KEYMARK sets the standard for quality and efficiency

07 Jan 2025

The Heat Pump KEYMARK has reached a remarkable milestone, certifying its 10,000th heat pump model. This achievement highlights the program’s vital role in driving trust, quality, and efficiency in the European heating and cooling sector.

For nearly a decade, the Heat Pump KEYMARK certification has proven itself as a trusted, independent quality mark, harmonising the European market and ensuring the recognition of reliable, high-performance products. By boosting consumer confidence and encouraging innovation, it contributes directly to the decarbonisation of heating and cooling solutions across Europe.

The Heat Pump KEYMARK Secretariat, coordinated by the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA), proudly announces this milestone, which reflects the collaboration of over 180 renowned brands spread across Europe.

“Achieving 10,000 certified models is a clear testament to the value of Heat Pump KEYMARK in building consumer trust and promoting sustainable innovation. Despite the challenges currently facing the heating and cooling sector, this accomplishment underscores the importance of ensuring high-quality products with reliable performance,” said Johannes Brugmann, Chair of the Heat Pump KEYMARK Scheme Group.

Since its establishment nearly ten years ago, the Heat Pump KEYMARK has become a benchmark for quality, safety, and reliability in Europe. The Scheme aligns with stringent European regulations and standards, including Ecodesign requirements (lot 1 and lot 2), providing certified products with a competitive edge.

The certification’s alignment with these standards not only facilitates access to subsidies for manufacturers and consumers but also supports the broader rollout of heat pump technology. As a result, Heat Pump KEYMARK plays a critical role in helping the EU meet its climate targets and transition toward a sustainable energy future.

“This milestone sets a positive tone for the years to come,” the Secretariat remarked. “Reaching 10,000 certified models in early January signals great momentum for 2025 and beyond. We are proud of how far the scheme has come and look forward to achieving even greater milestones in the future.”
